The little woodpecker is an American animated short film directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera from the year 1949.

Action

As a mother woodpecker flies out for a short time for lunch, her bebrütetes egg makes itself constantly and eventually ends up in Jerry's mouse hole. The wakes up and sees a short time later a newly hatched woodpecker in front of him, which in turn looks at it as a mother. A short time later, the little woodpecker knocking through various furniture of the mouse, and finally gives such a great loss of wood that Jerry puts him in front of the door.

The little Woodpecker sneaks off sadly and picked listlessly garden devices. Also, the deck chair by Kater Tom is pecked briefly - as the cat pours the woodpecker with lemonade, the woodpecker destroys the deck chair and is now being chased by Tom. Jerry turns on and soon it has to do with Tom two small enemies. In the meantime, he is able to swallow the woodpecker, but pecking of his way back to freedom. When Tom Jerry whacked beats and want to chop into pieces with an ax, the little woodpecker falls a power pole, the calculated exactly fails on Tom's head and rams it into the ground.

Mother and the little woodpecker woodpecker appears now faces between two mothers. He opts for the right woodpecker mother. Jerry has a little sad back, but the woodpecker appears again and gives him a hearty kiss.

The little woodpecker came on 14 May 1949 as part of the MGM cartoon series Tom and Jerry in Technicolor in the cinemas.

Awards

The little woodpecker was nominated in 1950 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ", but could not prevail against Beloved skunk itself.
