Hattencourt

Hattencourt is a North commune ( as at 1 January 2011) with 260 inhabitants in Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, in the canton Roye.

Geography

The traversed by the Autoroute A1 and the high-speed rail route of the LGV Nord place that is bounded to the west by the disused railway line Chaulnes - Roye is situated about 6.5 km south of Chaulnes at the intersection of department roads D132 and D161. In Hattencourt is a French military cemetery ( Nécropole national).

History

The place is first mentioned in the 14th century. In 1636 it was destroyed by the troops of Henri de La Tour d' Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne. A second destruction was carried out by bombing in World War II. In the interwar period Hattencourt was rebuilt. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
