Hausvogteiplatz (Berlin U-Bahn)

Metro Station Hausvogteiplatz is a station on the U2 line of the Berlin U -Bahn. It is located under the namensgebendem Hausvogteiplatz in the Mitte district near the Gendarmenmarkt and the Foreign Office. The station went on 1 October 1908 in operation.

History

On Hausvogteiplatz station of the staff responsible for the design of the stations of the architect Alfred Grenander Centrum line created a clearly structured space, the track back wall was small-scale white tile with yellow frames. The inputs and outputs of the station were quite cramped, the station itself is located in a curve, making it quite confusing. This narrowness is particularly noticed in the eastern entrance where clearance operations and cash desk could not be laid in the ground. Therefore Grenander designed a Art Nouveau held, hexagonal ticket booth.

At the station itself changed in the next few years hardly anything. During the Second World War, the station suffered significant damage. Especially a bombing on February 3, 1945 in the eastern station area destroyed the station significantly. In addition, water damage came in April still be added due to the blowing up of the Landwehr Canal. Therefore, the station could not be re-opened already in 1945, in contrast to many other Berlin underground stations. While the first parts of the AI or AII line on the track went back, but did not keep it at the station itself was only on January 7, 1950 was the rebuilt station in operation. The POS house in Art Nouveau style was not rebuilt, it was replaced by a simplified one- or outputs.

In GDR times changed at the station itself hardly anything, only the traits of the former line A lead is no longer in the west to Ruhleben or Krumme Lanke. Terminus was now Thälmannplatz or Otto Grotewohl Street (today Mohrenstrasse ). Only in the 1970s, the station received a new rear track wall, which now adorn large and gray instead of white, small tiles.

After the reunification of the two halves of the city of Berlin, the trains of today's U2 line of Pankow in the east could follow it until after Ruhleben to the west again. In 1998, the Berlin public transport could enable the eastern access back to the original state, but they also gave up the reconstruction of the POS cottage. A promised at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Foreign Office suffix with the naming of this facility has not been performed.

As part of the complete refurbishment by the BVG, the stations between Alexanderplatz and city center to be re- adjusted to their historic condition. In the neighboring station Spittelmarkt has already been developed. The SNB will continue to refrain from doing the advertising space in the stations, there are historical views of downtown Berlin will be shown. For the implementation of these plans at Hausvogteiplatz station but there is still no date.

An elevator installation for handicapped access for passengers to receive only after 2016 because of the relatively insignificant location of the station.
