Hauterives

Hauterives is a commune with 1720 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the north of the Drome in the Rhone -Alpes.

The municipality is located in the Valley of Galaure, a left tributary of the Rhône. Valence is about 50 km, Lyon and Grenoble 80 km 70 km away.

Hauterives was known by the 1879-1922 Ferdinand Cheval, a French postman who built monuments of the Ideal Palace and his own tomb, which are visited annually by over 100,000 visitors.
