Hauwa Ibrahim

Hauwa Ibrahim ( born 1968 in Nigeria ) is a Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist.

Life

The daughter of an Islamic mullahs should be left and married the school at the age of twelve years. They defied the wishes of her family and studied law. She then worked until 1996 in the Ministry of Justice of the state of Bauchi in northern Nigeria. The introduction of Sharia in the northern provinces of Nigeria in 1999 led her to work as a defender. She took on pro bono numerous mandates for individuals who were threatened by the hadd punishment, what you earned international notoriety. Among other things, she defended Amina Lawal and Safiya Hussaini successful.
