Havdhem

Havdhem is a place ( tätort ) on the Swedish Baltic Sea island of Gotland in the province of Gotland County and the historical province of Gotland. The village in the municipality of Gotland was first mentioned in the 14th century as Haffthem. In the village there is a medieval church.

Location

Havdhem located in the southwestern inland from Gotland, 53 km south of Visby, 8.5 km south of Hemse and 15 km north of Burgsvik.

The area is used mostly agricultural, but there are also wooded gravel and rocky areas.

Archaeological places

From the Stone Age artifacts have been found, and there is at least one living space. From the Bronze Age found eininge Rösen. From the Iron Age, there are seven cemeteries, house foundations, stone paths (Swedish stensträngar ) and several Sliprännestenar and two prehistoric hill forts (Swedish fornborgar ).
