Geography

Havelaue is in the northwest of the county Havel country, about ten kilometers northwest of Rathenow and 70 kilometers west of Berlin. The districts Parey, Gülpe and Strodehne lie on the eastern bank of the Havel. In the north of the municipality is the Gülper lake.

Havelaue is located on the southeastern edge of the wetland Lower Havel.

History

Wolsier was mentioned in 1437 as a possession of the family of Wuthenow. A little later, the village belonged to the bishop of Havel mountain. After the Reformation was Wolsier property of the Elector of Brandenburg. In the Thirty Years' War, the village was devastated and depopulated. It was not until the late 17th century to 1722 Wolsier was just north of the original village rebuilt as Angersdorf. In 1874, burned down the whole village and 1882 the estate. Spaatz was first mentioned in 1441 as a property of the family von der Hagen. Spaatz was affected by a tsunami in 1566, in 1700 destroyed parts of the church fires and several buildings of the village. Parey was first mentioned in 1450, and is of Slavic origin. On May 1, 1974 Prietzen was incorporated into the municipality Wolsier. The municipality was created on 31 December 2001, from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Gülpe, Parey, Spaatz, and Strodehne Wolsier.

The coat of arms was approved on 9 March 2007.

The municipal flag is white - Blue - White - Blue - White striped in relation 1:0,5:7:0,5:1 with the municipal coat of arms in the middle strip.

Attractions

In the list of monuments in Havelaue are registered in the list of monuments of the country Brandenburg monuments.

  • The baroque church was built in 1752 Wolsier on the walls of a previous. Worth seeing are the wooden pulpit altar from 1772 and the wooden baptismal font from the year 1707.
