Havneby is the capital of the Danish island of Romo with 279 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). Havneby since the municipal reform of 2007 part of Tønder municipality in Region Syddanmark the. Prior Havneby belonged from 1970 to end 2006 Skærbæk municipality in Jutland office.
Location
Havneby is located at the southeast end of the island of Romo at the end of Sekundærrute 175, about 15 km southwest of Skærbæk, 6 km west of Ballum and about 11 km northeast of the German island of Sylt in List, which reached via the ferry to the island of Sylt - Romo - line can be.
History

Helmodde
South of the harbor before the embankment is the nature reserve Helmodde that in the period from April may not be entered until October. The area was formed by silt deposits and became the marching ground. It is a refuge and breeding ground for many wading birds, such as oystercatchers, Red Knot and Bar-tailed Godwit. Also Brent geese and eider ducks have their resting place here.
