Background

The king of the monkeys was 1964-1965 as hitherto most ambitious Chinese animation project, however, was sharply criticized in the light of the Cultural Revolution and only listed very limited. Only in the course of time he became the model for almost all Chinese animation cinema.

The English title of Havoc in Heaven ( formerly: Uproar in Heaven) to German as " rebellion in heaven " corresponds, rather the Chinese大 闹天宫, which has become in the mandarin -speaking world to a proverbial expression for the serving of Chaos.
