Hawaii Senate

The Senate of Hawaii (Hawaii State Senate ) is the upper house of the Hawaii State Legislature, the legislature of the U.S. state of Hawaii.

The chamber of parliament is composed of 25 Senators representing an electoral district respectively. Deputies are elected for four -year terms; limiting the terms of office does not exist. The predecessor of the chamber was at the time of the Kingdom of Hawaii, the House of Nobles. Like most state legislatures in the United States is the chamber designed for part-time, so that the senators often pursue an active employment outside of government work.

The meeting room of the Senate is located together with the House of Representatives at the Hawaii State Capitol in the capital Honolulu. He found there a since March 15, 1969. Prior to the decision of the Governor John Anthony Burns, to build a new capitol building, the Hawaii State Senate met in the Iolani Palace.
