Hawthorne is a city in Los Angeles County in the state of California, United States.

The name of the town goes back to the daughter of Benjamin I. Harding, one of the city fathers: Laurine Harding Woolwine had the same birthday as the writer Nathaniel Hawthorne.

In Hawthorne is the seat of the U.S. branch of the heavy metal label Nuclear Blast. In addition, there was the label Abacus Recordings, which until 2007 belonged from 2002 to Century Media, the biggest competitor of Nuclear Blast.
