Hayabusa (train)

The Hayabusa connection (Japaneseはやぶさ, dt peregrine falcon ) is a JR East train the operator on the Tōhoku Shinkansen in Japan, which is offered from March 5, 2011. Between 1958 and 2009, had the same name, a night train between Tokyo and Kagoshima.

Offer

The Hayabusa connection is the fastest connection on the Tōhoku Shinkansen. Since the introduction of the compound in March 2011, three pairs of trains are offered daily, stopping at the following stations:

The late-night connection Hayabusa 5 and the early morning connection Hayabusa 2 run only between Tokyo and Sendai.

Vehicle use & Zugformation

History

Night Train (1958-2009)

The Hayabusa night train was offered for the first time on October 1, 1958. He ran between Tokyo and Kagoshima. From 1960, the train was extended to 20 beat car and drove to Nishi- Kagoshima. As of March 1975 a further four cars has been added.

The previously carried dining car was no longer offered as of March 1993.

As of December 1999, the Hayabusa - night train was coupled with the sakura overnight train between Tokyo and Tosu. After setting the Sakura - night train from March 1, 2005, the Hayabusa - night train with the Fuji overnight train between Tokyo and Moji was combined. With the ever- decreasing passenger numbers of the Hayabusa - night train, which consisted of last 14 sleeping cars, was finally adjusted to the new schedule in March 2009.

Shinkansen (since March 2011)
