The Donbass Donetsk HK (Ukrainian ХК Донбас Донецьк, Russian ХК Донбасс Донецк ) is a Ukrainian hockey club was established in 2001 from Donetsk. The professional team plays since 2012 in the Continental Hockey League. The club plays its home matches at the Druzhba Palace of Sports. The club colors are black, white and red Borys Kolesnikov Since 2010 is the sole owner of the club.
History
The club was founded in 2001. In the 2001 /02 season of HK Donbass participated in Division B of the East European Hockey League in which it won the third of eight places. Later, the team was inducted into the Wyschtscha Liha. Biggest success of the club's history was winning the Ukrainian league title in season 2010/11.
For the season 2011/12 HK Donbass Donetsk as one of three teams was as an expansion team in the year before newly established second Russian league, which Wysschaja Hockey League included. As of 2011 the club was planning to participate in the medium to long term at the Kontinental Hockey League. The second team of the club played between 2011 and 2013 in the highest Ukrainian league, the Professonellen Hockey League.
At European level, the Donbass HK participated in the 2011/12 season at the IIHF Continental Cup, in its third round started and the team reached the final tournament. For season 2012/13 the HK Donbass was included in the KHL.
