The HC Slavia is a Czech ice hockey association, which was founded in 1900 in Prague as a department of the sports club Slavia Prague. The club plays since 1994 in the Extraliga, the highest Czech professional league in hockey. Play their home games, the club in the 18,000 -seater arena ₂ O from.

History

Already in the early years of the club could achieve four times the Czech Ice Hockey Championship in 1929 and 1934 also won one of the Tatra Cup, one of the then most important hockey tournaments in the Czechoslovak Republic.

Until the Second World War, the hockey department was called SK Slavia Praha, the hitherto carried all departments of the club. In 1948 he was in Sokol club Slavia Prague renamed. However, this name was only a year officially, in 1949 you went to by the name Dynamo Slavia. 1953, was also the Slavia from the name, so that the club officially only meant Dynamo Prague. Since 1965 the club again bears the name of Slavia Prague ( 1977-1993 Slavia IPS Prague, since 1993 HC Slavia Prague).

In 2003, the HC Slavia won for the first time the Czech Championship. This success was repeated in 2008 with a victory by 4:3 games in the final against HC Energie Karlovy Vary. In the following season Slavia again reached the playoff final, but failed in this at HC Energie Karlovy Vary.

During the season 2009/10 Slavia took only middle table spaces and fell in January 2010 from the playoff ranks out. Then, the management with Noah Clarke and Darcy Campbell undertook two North American player to reach the playoffs yet.
