HE 0107-5240

HE 0107-5240 is one of the earth about 36,000 light-years distant star in the southern part of the constellation Phoenix. Because of its great distance from the Earth to the star shines about 10,000 times weaker than the stars that are barely visible to the naked eye in the night sky visible. Its age is estimated at 12 to 15 billion years putting them as a star of the second generation - he said to have originated about 1 billion years after the Big Bang.

HE 0107-5240 was until the discovery of HE 1327-2326 in March 2005 as the metal- poorest stars ( about 200,000 a smaller proportion of metals than the Sun, [Fe / H] = -5.3 ).
