HE 1327-2326

HE1327 - 2326 is a carbon star in the constellation Hydra. He is the star with the lowest known iron content. He was discovered by the astronomer Anna Frebel and her team in the framework of the Hamburg / ESO survey for metal-poor stars in 2005.

HE1327 - 2326 is part of the second population and has emerged at a time when the universe was much less metals ( here: elements other than hydrogen and helium) contained than today.

Its metallicity is -5.6. This is his iron content only 1/400.000 of the sun. Its carbon content is about 10% of that of the sun.
