Heart River (Wyoming)

The Heart River flows through the Heart Lake

It has its source at the Continental Divide in 2217 m altitude in the Rocky Mountains in Yellowstone National Park in Teton County, a few miles south-east of Yellowstone Lake.

After a few kilometers it reaches the Heart Lake on the northeast side, the flows through and exits on the southeast side. On his way to the south of the Surprise Creek and Outlet Creek flow into the Heart River. After a further 6 kilometers it empties into the Snake River near the border of the Teton National Forest.

One can reach the river on the Heart River trail or the Snake River trail from the southern border of the park.
