Heather Armitage

Heather Armitage, married. Young, ( born March 17, 1933, England) is a former British athlete and Olympian.

Armitage occupied at the European Championships 1954 in Bern Place 6, 1958, she won the gold medal in Stockholm in the 100 -meter run.

In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games 1954, held Vancouver, she won the silver medal in the 4 x 110- yard relay team. In the British Empire and Commonwealth Games 1958, held in Cardiff, Wales, she won the silver medal over 100 yards, behind the Australian Marlene Willard ( gold ) and before the English girl Madeleine Weston (Bronze ) and the bronze medal over 220 yards, behind the two Australians Marlene Willard ( gold) and Betty Cuthbert ( silver) and the gold medal in the 4 x 110 yards relay.

At the Summer Olympics in Helsinki in 1952, she won the bronze medal together with teammates Sylvia Cheeseman, Jean Desforges and June Foulds, behind the team from the USA ( Gold ) and the team of Germany (Silver). At the Olympic Summer Games 1956 in Melbourne, Australia, she won the silver medal, along with their teammates Anne Pashley, Jean Scrivens and June Foulds, behind the team from Australia (Gold ), and ahead of the team from the USA ( bronze).
