Heather Headley

Heather Headley ( born October 5, 1974 in Barataria ) is a Trinidadian singer and actress, producer and songwriter.

Biography

Childhood and youth

Headley was able to play with four years of piano. The daughter of a pastor came during her childhood with multiple genres in contact and became interested in the direction of calypso, reggae and soca to care. At the age of fifteen, her family moved to the United States in order to Fort Wayne in Indiana because her father before there were new job prospects. After Heather Headley received her degree from high school, she enrolled at Northwestern University in the areas of communications and musical theater one. However, they decided against the end of their studies towards an academic career and joined a theater group.

During her studies, she performed on the stage: She took a role in the pieces Dreamgirls and The World Goes Round in Marroitt Lincolnshire Theatre.

Career

In 1997, she received her first role in the theater. The Disney company gave her the role of Nala in the musical The Lion King. This has enabled her to make public attention. Shortly after, she was taken by RCA Records and began working on the musical industry.

A year later she sang with Kenny Lattimore for the musical The Lion King II the song Love Will Find a Way, which was also broadcast in the advertisement for this musical.

In October 2002 their debut album was released, titled This Is Who I Am. Although their first single, He Is praised, they did not manage to get into the charts up. Only in the dance charts, it reached # 4 with their second single I Wish I Was not, however, she was more successful and even managed to make a nomination at the Grammy Awards to achieve. Their album was finally able to sell half a million copies and was certified gold.

In 2004 she had a cameo in the sequel to Dirty Dancing as a singer.

Their second album was released after some delay in 2006 under the title In My Mind. This album reached number one on the R & B charts. The title song became a dance hit and remixed a number-one hit in the U.S. dance charts. That same year she performed at the Concert Under the Desert Sky by Andrea Bocelli and sang with him including the worldwide hit The Prayer.

In 2007, she appeared again with Bocelli, this time in Italy at the Teatro del Silenzio Lajatico near and sang with him again The Prayer and Vivo per lei, this time an English- Italian version was sung.

2009 appeared to her latest album currently Audience of One, in which Headley a new style of music struck: Gospel.

Private

Heather Headley has been married since September 6, 2003 Brian Musso, a former football player who was active in the New York Jets.
