Heathkit
Heathkit was a U.S. company. The company was originally founded under the name Heath Aeroplane Company by Edward Bayard Heath 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. Until the eighties Heathkit was the leading supplier of high quality electronic kits, from the radio up to the short wave amateur radio.
History
In the postwar period Heathkit bought up large amounts of electronic parts from army surplus. These were upgraded to finished kits. Thus, it was possible customers to build out these inexpensive kits radio models.
In 1974, the Heathkit Educational Systems was founded. This primarily supplied schools and institutes. 1979 was the Heathkit on at Zenith Data Systems, while Heathkit Educational Systems educational material distribution in the electrical and electronics sector.

Market shift
In the seventies of the twentieth century, more and more inexpensive built prefabricated devices ( serial production, platinum construction) from Japan came on the market. The self- Kits could keep both quality and price with these devices. The company Heathkit retired as a result, the Kit - market and focused on technical teaching materials.
The company reported in 2012 to bankruptcy.
