Heathrow Express

Heathrow Express is a railway line in the UK, which connects the airport London Heathrow to Paddington Station in central London since 23 June 1998.

The line is operated by the " Heathrow Express Operating Authority ", a subsidiary of the airport operator BAA plc. It is not included in the tariff system of National Rail, which have joined almost all other railway companies. Trains run every 15 minutes from 5:00 clock to 24:00 clock. At Heathrow airport, there are three railway stations, Heathrow Central, which operates the terminals 1 to 3, Heathrow Terminal 4 and Heathrow Terminal 5 However, one has to go to T4, change to Heathrow Central in the Heathrow Connect. The journey takes 15 or 22 minutes. It operate multiple units of type Class 332, which were developed by Siemens and CAF.

The offer is praised particularly for its environmental friendliness and speed. Significant criticism but there is at the high fares. So costs 2009 a single trip in second class £ 16.50 ( return ticket £ 32 ) in the first class even £ 26 ( return ticket £ 50 ). Thus Heathrow Express is by far the most expensive train in Britain. In comparison, a ride on the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground to the city center takes about 50 minutes though, but only costs between £ 3.00 and £ 5.50.
