Adams thought at the time, Heaven do not fit Reckless, the same opinion was also producer Jimmy Iovine, who was working very closely with Adams. Iovine thought the song was " nice" to the album. So it was decided not to include Heaven in the final version of the album, but at the last moment changed his mind and Adams Heaven still managed to disk.

During the recording session to Heaven drummer Mickey Curry ended his collaboration with Adam because he liked the studio recordings with Hall & Oates better. On the same day on which the studio recordings were completed, Smith took over the rank of curry as a drummer for the recording of Adams. While they wrote Heaven, Adams and Vallance were influenced by Journeys music.
