Hebenu

Hebenu was an ancient Egyptian town in Middle Egypt, in the 16th Upper Egyptian Ma - Hedj the Antelope. The location could not be pinpointed so far, but was near Neferusi.

As can be inferred from the grave inscriptions buried in Zawiyat al - Amwat nomarchs, Hebenu was the capital of Antilopengaues in the Old Kingdom. In this role, she is also called on the Gauliste of Sesostris I at Karnak. The location will be mentioned several times during the Middle Kingdom, but was no longer the capital of the district. He is tentatively located at Zawiyat al - Amwat. Chief god of the city was Horus, Lord of Hebenu.
