Heckhuscheid

Heckhuscheid is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Prüm.

Geography

Heckhuscheid is located on a wooded plateau at the Schneifel, the western foothills of the Eifel, with its moors close to the border with Belgium.

To Heckhuscheid the living spaces include Dackscheid ( part ), Halenfeld, rear Husch Eider Street and Halvent.

History

The emergence of street settlement possibly goes back to the 12th century. Documented the place was first mentioned in 1532 as Hoscheid. Only in the 18th century, the name was in use Heckhuscheid. " Tail " was added to distinguish it from two other villages with the name " Huscheid ". " Heck" exploits probably " hedge " or " coppice ".

Structures

  • Is the chapel of St. Catherine at the village street. It was first mentioned in 1532. In 1864 it was demolished due to disrepair to the ground and rebuilt in 1868 in neo-Romanesque style.
