Hecla and Fury Islands

The Hecla and Fury Islands ( Hecla and Fury Islands ) are a small archipelago in the Gulf of Boothia in northern Canada. The archipelago consists of the two large, eponymous islands and two smaller islands. The total area is approximately 2 km ². They belong to Nunavut, to more accurately Census division Kitikmeot, Unorganized.

The islands were discovered by John Ross on September 24, 1829. Since they are on the same latitude as the easternmost Fury and Hecla - Street, Ross named it after that. Both names were due to ship names of the polar explorer William Edward Parry. He called the third island after Isabella Louisa Parry's wife, Lady Parry. They were mentioned in 1839 's residents, wonders and natural resources in Traugott Brommes North America, but he knew only three islands.
