Hector Bianciotti

Héctor Bianciotti ( born March 18, 1930 in Calchín Oeste, Córdoba, † 11 June, 2012 ) was an Argentine- French writer and literary critic.

Life

Bianciotti was a son of Italian immigrants from Piedmont. 1942, at the age of 12, he entered a Franciscan monastery. There he learned French literature, especially the works of Paul Valéry know. In 1954 he went to Europe for six years, first to Italy, then to Spain.

In February 1961 he moved permanently over to France and to write the early 1980s French. In 1981, he obtained French citizenship. Besides his work as a writer, he worked as a literary critic for the daily newspaper Le Monde, as well as for the weekly magazine Le Nouvel Observateur. Bianciotti is now considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary French literature.

On 18 January 1996 Bianciotti was taken as the successor of André Frossard to the Académie française ( fauteuil 2).
