The Hector International Airport ( IATA: FAR, ICAO: KFAR ) is the airport of the city of Fargo in Cass County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of North Dakota. The Hector International Airport is the largest and most important airport North Dakota hub of air transport in the metropolitan region Fargo - Moorhead and the surrounding areas in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

A portion of the airport is the basis of the 119th Wing, a unit of the Air National Guard of North Dakota. Here the military version Learjet C-21 are stationed; also be operated from here operations with Predator drones.

The airport was the final destination of the aircraft that crashed in 1959 with the musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J. P. Richardson.

Location

The 1000 -hectare site is located within the city of Fargo, about six miles north of downtown. A few hundred meters east of the airport flows of the Red River of North, which forms the border with the neighboring state of Minnesota.

About the University Drive the airport to the immediate south adjacent North Dakota State University and located later in downtown Fargo is attached. To the west of the airport extends Interstate 29, which forms the shortest route from Kansas City, Missouri and Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

Equipment

The airport has three start and runways that have a concrete pad. There is a passenger terminal with baggage handling system and five passenger boarding bridges. Several car rental companies have bases in the reception building.
