Hede, Sweden

Hede is a place in the Swedish province of Jämtland County, the historic province Härjedalen.

Hede located about 70 km north- west of Sveg on the upper reaches of the river Ljusnan. Hede belongs to the municipality Härjedalen and is an important tourist center. In the village there is a local history museum and a church dating from 1613, rebuilt in 1775 in the Rococo style.

About 20 km south of Hede is the National Park Sonfjället, known for its population of brown bears. In May 2009 it was reported from Hede about an incident in which a brown bear a moose chased through the village and eventually brought him to a children's playground to case.

On the outskirts is the Hedebacken, a ski jump, jumped on the 1999 to 2001 under the International Ski Jumping Continental Cup. It serves as a training center for the Hede IK and was the venue for the 2003 and 2005 Swedish Championships in ski jumping.
