Hedemora Gamla Theater

Teaterladan ( German theater warehouse ), officially Hedemora Gamla Theatre is a theater in Hedemora, Dalarna County, Sweden. It is Sweden's oldest theater building of its kind and was built in the second half of the 1820s from a local wholesaler. Of the three floors, the bottom two were originally used as grain storage and the top as a theater. The building is one of three surviving warehouse theater and was found in 1964 under monument protection. Other Warehouse Theatre are Gamla teatern in Vadstena and Gamla teatern in Eskilstuna. Hedemoras theater is part of the European route Historic Theater.

Between 1829 and 1888, the theater was recorded regularly. Subsequently, the building was used by the Salvation Army. From 1910 it stood empty and fell into disrepair. On the occasion of the 500 anniversary of the city, the theater was put in order and in 1946 inaugurated by Crown Prince Gustav Adolf. During the summer plays are performed in the theater and concerts throughout the year. The first floor and part of the ground floor are used today for feasting theater guests. On the ground floor there is also a small theater museum with a section on August Lindberg, an actor from Hedemora.
