A Gebück ( scenic also: bend, Geknick, Hag, Gehag ) is an approach obstacle in the form of an impenetrable hedge. This is produced by young trees are planted, their trunks intertwined downward curved ( bent ) or kinked and each other. Usually a Gebück was accompanied by ramparts and ditches, to strengthen its protective effect.

Gebücke were already known in ancient times and in many cultures. Gebückartige fasteners are handed down by the Hyrkaniern and Menapii, and later with the Saracens and the old Prussia. Also in the Silesian border fortification Preseka it was probably a Gebück. In the late Middle Ages, the militia were created as Gebück. Also, the advance of a castle was often so secured.

The Gebücke passed today in the German-speaking mainly of hornbeam. Were Gebücke no longer maintained, the young shoots of trees grew freely in the vertical. However, for example, from the Rheingau Gebück still scattered trees can be seen as a former part of the system based on their age and influenced by previous stooping growth.
