Hedi Lang

Hedwig " Hedi " Long - Gehri (born 30 October 1931 in Uster, † 31 March 2004 Zollikerberg ) was a Swiss politician. They presided over the second woman after Elizabeth Blunschy (1977 ) the National Council.

Hedi Lang was a member of the Social Democratic Party. 1971, shortly after the introduction of women's suffrage, she was elected to the National Council (until 1983 ). In 1981 she was National President.

In 1983 she was elected to the government of the canton Zurich - also a first for a woman. Until 1991, she was Director of the Justice and Home Affairs, after which it stood until 1995, the Department of Economic Affairs before. Twice ( 1989/90 and 1994/ 95), she was also President of the Government Council. 1973 to 1983 she was president of the Association of Pro Familia Switzerland.

Hedi Lang was from 1957 married to Erwin A. Lang.
