Martínez Hedwiges Maduro ( born February 13, 1985 in Almere ) is a Dutch football player. His mother is from Curaçao and his father from Aruba, so he also has the citizenship of the Netherlands Antilles.
Maduro is a defensive midfielder, who also acted as a sweeper at Ajax Amsterdam. Together with Steven Pienaar, Johnny Heitinga, Wesley Sneijder, Markus Rosenberg and Ryan Babel he made in the 2005/06 season by far the youngest and most compact club team in recent years. He won during his time at Ajax Dutch Cup twice and three times the Dutch Super Cup.
In January 2008 Maduro moved for about two million euros to FC Valencia. He signed a contract for four and a half years there.
Maduro has already played for ages and classes U19, U20 and U21 in Holland. On 26 March 2005, he made his debut for the Dutch national team. At the 2006 World Cup, he brought it to a short stint in the minor final group game against Argentina, for the 2008 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup, he was not nominated, but he stood in the Netherlands squad for the Olympic Summer Games in 2008.
