Hedy d'Ancona

Hedwig " Hedy " d' Ancona ( born October 1, 1937 in The Hague ) is a Dutch politician, geographer and sociologist.

Political career

Hedy d' Ancona was the beginning of her political career, first from 1981 to 1982 State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment as well as from 1989 to 1994 Minister of Social Affairs, Sport and Health in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers; they also dealt with issues such as equality between men and women. She was from 1984 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1999 Member of the European Parliament and sat for Partij van de Arbeid in the first chamber of the Dutch Parliament.

Oxfam

From April 1995 to June 2004 she was Chair of Oxfam Novib and also had the function of a second chairman of Oxfam International at this time held.
