The Hegekopf at Willingen in northern Hesse Waldeck- Frankenberg is a 842.9 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in Rothaargebirge.

After Langenberg ( 843.2 m) of Hegekopf is outside of the resin second highest mountain in the northwestern part of Germany, after the Langenberg second highest mountain in the northern part of northern Hesse and by the Langenberg and in front of the Kahler Asten ( 841.9 m) the second highest mountain in the Rothaargebirge.

Geography

Location

The Hegekopf is located in the northeast part of the Rothaargebirge near the interface of the mountain regions and Upland Sauerland. Its summit, which is heavily wooded, rises about 3 km south-southwest of the core location of Willingen. From the summit there are less than 800 meters ( depending on distances in a straight line ) towards the south-west to the border with North Rhine -Westphalia and thus to Hochsauerlandkreis. West past the Hegekopf flows Hopp corner whose small tributary Ruthenaar rises north-east of it. Southeast past the mountain passes of the small Itter inflow Hermeke.

Neighboring mountains - with the height in meters ( m) above mean sea level ( MSL ): Ettelsberg ( 837.7 m) in the north- northeast, mill head ( 825 m ) in the east, hopper head ( 832.3 m; beyond the Itter ) in the south, Clemens Berg ( 839.1 m) in the south-southwest, Langenberg ( 843.2 m; beyond the Hopp corner ) in the west and central mountain ( 801 m) in the northwest.

Mountain height

Regarding the height is in the media sometimes the "only" 841.9 m high Kahle Asten near Winterberg, which is much better known than the Hegekopf because of the weather station, especially because of his views from Astenturm to 862 m altitude, inadvertently than the highest mountain referred to the local region.
