Hegemone ( Jupiter XXXIX) is one of the smaller moons of the planet Jupiter.

Discovery

Hegemone was discovered on February 8, 2003 by astronomers at the University of Hawaii, and was initially provided with the provisional designation S/2003 J 8. On 30 March 2005, the moon was awarded by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU) the official name Hegemone, according to one of the Graces of Greek mythology.
