Heiðar Helguson

Heiðar Helguson ( born August 22, 1977 in Akureyri ) is an Icelandic football player who is currently active for Cardiff City.

Career

Helgusons first career stop was Þróttur Reykjavík in his native Iceland. In January 1998 he moved to Lillestrøm SK. After two years in Lillestrom striker went to England for Watford FC, which he remained faithful until 2005. By 2007 Helguson played the Fulham FC. He then moved to Bolton Wanderers. He received a three-year contract and said to have cost about 3 million euro transfer fee. In November 2008, he was only on loan at Queens Park Rangers. In January 2009 he received a contract for two and a half years.

Helguson has played 39 times in the Icelandic national football team, scoring 12 goals.
