Bergheim forms - together with the old town - the downtown Heidelberg between electors system and the Neckar River.
Location
In the east Bergheim adjacent to the old town, on the south by West Town and the north by the river Neckar. In the west -south Wieblingen lie with rehab center ( SRH ) and the Pfaffengrund. The settlement ox head is already one Wieblingen.

History
The former village mountain home is older than the city of Heidelberg. - The first traces of human settlement date back to the early Stone Age, was first documented in Bergheim 769 in the Lorsch codex.
When the old hospital to the west of present-day central Theodor Heuss Bridge had been a Roman bridge over the Neckar. Residues and documentation this can be found in the local museum of the city.
