Heidmoor

Heidmoor is a municipality in the extreme southwest of the circle Segeberg in Schleswig -Holstein. The present municipality was established in 1951.

Geography and transport

Heidmoor is located about eight kilometers southwest of Bad Bramstedt in a wooded area. North State Road 206 Bad Bramstedt runs to Itzehoe, east extend the federal highway 4 and the Federal Highway 7 from Hamburg to Bad Bramstedt.

In the West Heidmoor borders the district of Pinneberg, and at the Steinburg district.

History

The whole area was part of the Hassel Buscher Forst until it was destroyed by a massive fire in 1911. The produced open space should be converted into arable land and was first used in World War I for the system of prisoner of war camps. The first settlers arrived in 1920 in the area, in 1921 the first settlement was completed.

After the fire of Hassel Buscher Forst also an experimental farm was established, which today is owned by the country. Only trials are currently being carried out there but for fodder production.

Until 1936 the area was part of the Gutsbezirk Rantzau. Then the recently emerged three settlements were divided among the communities Lentföhrden, Availing and Weddelbrook. 1951, the municipality Heidmoor was formed.

In the late 1950s the cold churches airport was planned, bought up large areas for its construction in the municipal area and many buildings were demolished. Construction of the airport, however, is no longer on the agenda today.

Policy

Since the local elections of 2008, the CDU has eight seats in the municipal council. The ninth seat is not occupied.
