Heiglkopf

The Heigelkopf or Heiglkopf is a 1205 m high mountain in the field of community Wacker Mountain, south of Bad Tölz Upper Bavaria. From its peak offers a view of the valley of the Isar.

In March 2007, the Heigelkopf achieved fame outside the German-speaking world, as he was called in Google Earth alongside his real name as Hitler's mountain. According to local historians, he was actually dedicated in April 1934 by a resolution of the municipal council of Wackersberg Adolf Hitler and renamed Hitler -Berg. In addition, a large illuminated swastika was placed on the summit. Google Earth probably had taken the name from the maps of the U.S. intelligence NGA. However, on the town itself, the renaming seems to have been hardly known. The name was finally removed, according to Google Earth in a " non-scheduled update ". In January 2014 it was reported that the Google Maps Heiglkopf continue to find if the search term is entered Hitler's mountain. Contrary to press reports, this forwarding has not been disabled, the mountain is known as " Hitler's mountain" to find in Google Maps still.
