Heihe

Heihe (Chinese黑河市, pinyin Heihe Shì ) is a prefecture -level city in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang. The administrative area of the city of Heihe has a total area of approximately 68,726 km ² and approximately 1.75 million inhabitants ( end of 2011).

Geography

Heihe is located in the North -East of China, formerly called Manchuria. It lies on the Heilong Jiang, directly opposite the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk. The geographic coordinates of the city are 50 ° 27 'North and 127 ° 47 ' East.

The city is the starting point of the Heihe - Tengchong line, which ends in the town of Tengchong ( Yunnan Province ).

History

An earlier name of the city is Aihui.

Economy

Heihe has great importance as a trading center, particularly trade with Russia plays an important role. Together with Blagoveshchensk forms Heihe a free trade zone. Distance between Heihe and Blagoveshchensk is about 1 km over the border river Amur and is handled with ferries. In recent years, Heihe has gained importance as a winter test region for the Chinese automotive industry. Companies like Continental, TRW Automotive VW or China have their Chinese Kaltprüfgelände here.

Culture

Worth seeing is away from the city center Heihes historic city Aigun (瑷珲), today's large community Aihui (爱辉镇) is 31 km. There, the Treaty of Aigun between the Chinese Empire and the Russian Empire in 1858 closed. 250 km from the center Heihes is the Wudalianchi Lakes area, a scenic region, considered as spa region.
