Heikendorf

Heike village is a municipality in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein. Heike village is located on the eastern shore of the Firth of Kiel between Mönkeberg and Laboe.

Visible landmark is the location directly on the Kiel Fjord submarine memorial to the German U -boat of both World Wars, which is surmounted by the bronze sculpture of a larger than life eagle. The old bronze figure was in 2001 replaced by a Neuguss, donated by the widow of a U- boat commanders.

The fishing village of Heike village in the past was home to a colony of artists who laid the foundation stone for the museum opened in 2000, artists with their works. Adolf also Brütts " Fischer " is reminiscent of the heyday of the art colony.

History

Heike village is documented evidence since 1233 as the " village of the Heike ". A little later, were the districts Schrevenborn ( 1290 ), Neuheikendorf ( 1479 ) and Möltenort ( 1613 ), settled.

Already in 1767 was initiated by the landowner Karl -Friedrich von Mewius the conversion of landlord farming into independent farms. Education

The Heinrich- Heine-Schule in Heike village is a high school, which was founded in 1973 and is currently being expanded to the public full-time school. The school has partnerships with schools in the UK, France, Estonia and Denmark. The writer and literary critic Christopher Ecker taught at school and German philosophy.
