Heiko Bellmann

Heiko Bellmann (* March 17, 1950, † March 7, 2014 ) was a German zoologist. The author of Lonsee has published entomological and Arachnologische work. He has also gained abroad through its identification books about insects and spiders, which he endowed with its own macro photographs awareness.

Life

After graduation Heiko Bellmann studied biology at the University of Göttingen. Then he went in 1975 at the University of Ulm and from then on there was a research assistant. In Franckh - Kosmos Verlag Heiko Bellmann published the comprehensive representations of bees, wasps, ants. Hymenoptera of Central Europe ( 1995), Cosmos Atlas Arachnids of Europe ( 1997), The New Cosmos Butterfly leaders. Butterflies, caterpillars and food plants (2003) and The Cosmos locusts leader. The types of central Europe safely determine (2006). Some of these books have been translated into French, Spanish, Dutch or Polish. Together with Klaus Bellmann Honomichl led since 1996 also the founded by Werner Jacobs standard work biology and ecology of insects away - both in the known Taschenlexikon form, as well as an expanded CD -ROM encyclopedia.

Since Bellmann dealt intensively since 1971 with the photographic documentation, especially the domestic insects and arachnids, he could equip all its publications with your own photos, which are characterized by their high quality of the key success factor of his books. Many pictures were taken in Central Europe and the Mediterranean. After Bell 's own account his image archive consisted in 2006 of around 50,000 slides of about 2,400 animal and 1,800 plant species, the most important animal and plant groups in Central and Southern Europe are considered, with the exception of birds, fish, protozoa and marine organisms. For this rich fund he tipped his slide presentations on various topics.
