Location

In the area north of the subway station Heinrich -Heine -Allee, the first and second main line are merged. The first leads after passing the Metro Station North Road under the Hofgarten through and pass under the tunnel of the second trunk route. This leads to the crossing of the Rhine on the Oberkasseler Bridge and stop at the underground station Tonhalle / courtyard in the amount of Ratingen gate into the tunnel.

After the stop at the Heinrich -Heine- Allee Underground Station downtown tunnel of Düsseldorf Stadtbahn from here leads into a bow at the King Avenue to located below the stone street metro station stone Street / King Avenue. The tunnel then follows the road of Stone Street towards Central Station to East Road Metro Station.

The station itself is located at the interface between the old town and expanded downtown. The Heinrich -Heine -Allee was the extreme limit of the city for a long time. Thus, the metro station is today a central point of the development of public transport for the old town and there numerous representatives in the gastronomic establishments. Directly connected to the Metro Station are department stores Carsch house and Galeria Kaufhof.

History

Committed on February 1, 1979, the work on the construction of the subway stations. The station was provided as crossing and branching station with two central platforms with a working length of 120 m. Since you are in the planning phase, it still went out to operate the route as a full subway system, an operating length of 120 m was implemented. This length was not taken into account in the further expansion of the rail network and metro stations were only built with a platform length of 90 m. Other than at the other stations of the downtown tunnel, Stone Street / King Avenue and Ostraße, the tracks were parallel and thus not built in two speed levels above each other. The current track position allows quick and smooth transfer and reached the Old Town and the city center. The station was, as already built the underground stations Kleverstraße and North Street in one and a half times the depth position.

Bahnhofanlage

The station consists of several levels. The upper level is the distributor level and is home to numerous shops and contains two underground entrances to the two large department stores and adjacent to the low-lying platforms. The second level has two central platforms on which keep the lines towards the main station or Krefeld, Neuss and Duisburg. There is in the body shop is a third level below which was built as a wholesale service for the currently under construction Wehrhahnlinie.

The additions of the U -Bahn station located on the Bolkerstraße, Flingerstraße, the Heinrich -Heine -Allee, the Theodor- Körner-Straße and on Kaufhof. There are escalators at most entrances.

The outer platforms of the subway station (platform 4 and 2 ) lead towards the Hofgartenrampe Metro Station Tonhalle / courtyard. This railway track is used by the lines U70, U74, U75, U76 and U77. The inner platforms (platform 1 and 3) are used by the U -Bahn towards the northern route. The underground lines U78 and U79 use these two platforms.

Shaping

A special feature at the Heinrich- Heine- Allee Underground Station is that here in 1988 on two of its planes an art project of the city of Dusseldorf was realized. Eight painters were commissioned, each produce a big image with the format 400 cm × 300 cm for this metro station. You should respond in their pictures on the environment of the subway stations. The eight artists were Fernand Roda, Adolphe Lechtenberg, Tina Juretzek, Holger Bunk, Herbert Bardenheuer, Bertram Jesdinsky, Julia Lohmann and Martina Kissenbeck. At the same time got the Düsseldorf artist Peter Royen sen. the contract for a wall relief at the level minus one. It consists of Belgian granite and has the format 300 cm x 1300 cm. The other eight murals are located on level two of the subway stations. All this work has been documented in a catalog, which was published in 1988 by the Cultural Department of the city of Dusseldorf.

First level

The first level refers to the beginning of the 2000s, newly formed after the conversion Heinrich -Heine Gallery. This has its predecessor in the flinger and the Bolkerpassage. These were also fitted to the reconstruction with several shops, but formed by a spatial separation caused by the centrally placed toilet facilities, two separate rooms. After the conversion, a central and broad furnished crossing over the entire length of the passage is formed. This is supported by a full -scale ceiling lighting above this axis. The shops with different uses are based on this. Here several service businesses and shops are available for your daily needs in addition to a customer service center of Rheinbahn. In addition, the adjacent department stores, Galeria Kaufhof and Carsch House have set each spacious entrance areas in this level.

Second level

In the second level there are four platforms that are combined to form two central platforms. These each hold the traits of both parent lines in a common direction. This facilitates transfers between lines that separate again in the area behind the underground station Heinrich -Heine -Allee.

The Düsseldorf Metro Stations of the first, second and third generation all have approximately the same design. The ceiling and walls are kept as well as the soil surface in black. A silver panel covers the located in the middle of the platform columns, and the other station furniture is kept in silver. The contrast to this subdued color schemes offer the beige walls. The stop names are placed on the information boards with black lettering on white ground, on the walls they are with black lettering on a white background, accompanied by wine-red lines above and below the script is executed.

North joins the platform area of a two-pronged reversing facility. At the southern end of the railway station is a central sweeping track, which was originally intended as a connecting track to Wehrhahnlinie. The construction of this connection track is not pursued because he - would bring no major operational benefits and the necessary investment in construction therefore does not justify - because of the conception of military rooster lines tunnel as a low-floor light rail for the car type NF8U.

Third level

The third level is the third main line, the so-called Wehrhahnlinie record. Thus, the stop at the Heinrich -Heine- Allee Underground Station along the Wehrhahnlinie will represent the only station with center platform, as are provided side platforms for all other metro stations. This has its origin in the practice of design. The tunnels were created in 2010 with a shield tunneling machine. The resulting tunnel is designed on two tracks, and not designed for a necessary central platforms widening the distance between them. Thus, the construction of the tunnel to the existing socket is south of the station end and are taken to the east after a remodeling phase.

The platform will begin west below the Galeria Kaufhof and up to the east side of King Avenue, height Corneliusplatz extend. The platform will thus be performed approximately 90 meters in length and 8.80 meters in width. The additions to the platform area will be divided into three areas. Thus, at the eastern end of the platform leads an escalator to the mezzanine. From this the King Avenue is directly connected to the third level has two staircases. In the middle of the platform is another escalator and lift the first level, reaches the Heinrich -Heine- gallery. In order to allow the direct transition between the urban rail lines receives the platform area a third access. This leads from the west end via escalators and stairs to the two platforms is the second level.

Traffic

The underground station Heinrich -Heine -Allee is located in the course of the first, second and third future main line of Düsseldorf city rail network. All seven ( from 2015: ten) trains running on these routes lines serve the station. In addition to the interchanges between the various rail lines consist transfer connections to five tram and another four bus lines, which stop at surface stops along the road Fischer / Kaiser Street and North Street and make the integration into the grid of the Düsseldorf transport.

About the Express line from Krefeld and the other complementary lines of sea Busch and Neuss the left bank nearest neighbor cities and neighborhoods Loerick, Heerdt and Oberkassel be achieved. About the line from the neighboring town of Duisburg as well as the northern parts of the city Wittlaer, Kaiserwerth and Lohausen be achieved. The branching in Stockum line to the ESPRIT arena binds to these and the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre. Behind the interchange station Dusseldorf main station, which links the city railway S- Bahn Rhein -Ruhr and further links in the regional and mainline services, through the remainder of the first, or the second main line the south-east parts of the city Lierenfeld, Eller, Oberbilk, versts, Holthausen and Benrath, and the Heinrich- Heine University and the Botanical garden attached.

With one exception, all rail lines are operated by the Düsseldorf Rheinbahn alone. This is the line U79, which is operated jointly with the Duisburg transport company. To operate on the line U79, on the part of the Duisburg transport company, high-floor light rail vehicles of the type B80C. In addition, here, as on all the other lines, type cars B80D also hochflurig used. On the line U75 also operate also from tramcars of type GT8S, converted vehicles of the type GT8SU.

The following rail lines serve the metro station:

Planning

After completion of the Wehrhahnlinie the subway station Heinrich -Heine -Allee will lose its previous function as an important junction between light rail and tram. It is instead the only interchange between intersecting rail lines in the city of Düsseldorf by the construction of a third main line. He is the only railway station, which is served by all trains running in Dusseldorf Stadtbahn lines.

The plans to discontinue any in the area of the station aboveground tram lines and replace them with light rail lines. According to the lines 703, 712 and 713, after the opening of Wehrhahnlinie in 2015 in U71, U72 and U73 will be renamed. The remaining lines 706 and 715 are conducted in the future of the fishing line coming over the Berliner Allee. So take the subway stations Schadowstraße and Stone Street / King Avenue after completion of the Wehrhahnlinie the central function of the relationship between urban and tram network in addition to the Düsseldorf Main Station.

In local transport plan 2002-2007 of the City of Dusseldorf, the introduction of a new light rail line U80 is provided. For this the construction of a bypass around the Düsseldorf Exhibition with a new metro station Messe-Süd is necessary. If this measure should be implemented, the underground station Heinrich -Heine -Allee is provided as a breakpoint this line.
