Heinrich Hollreiser

Heinrich Hollreiser (* June 24, 1913 in Munich, † July 24, 2006 in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser, Austria ) was a German conductor.

Heinrich Hollreiser studied with Karl Elmendorff in Munich. In 1932 he went as Kapellmeister to Wiesbaden then to Darmstadt. In 1938 he was first Kapellmeister in Mannheim. He then worked in Duisburg and, from 1942 to 1944, in Munich. 1945-51 he was Music Director of the city of Dusseldorf. 1952 to 1961 he served as first Kapellmeister at the Vienna State Opera from 1961 to 1964 as chief conductor at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

Then Hollreiser worked mainly between Munich, Berlin and Vienna back and herpendelnd, as a guest conductor. As long-time conductor of the Vienna State Opera, he stood until 1994, more than a thousand times in appearances as conductor of the orchestra. As a guest conductor he has conducted, among others, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as well as frequently and to old age Wagner performances at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He also led the Düsseldorf and Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra.
