Heinrich Lang

Heinrich Lang ( born November 14, 1826 in Frommern in Balingen; † January 13, 1876 in Zurich ) was a Protestant- Reformed pastor and theologian, a leading proponent of theological liberalism.

Life

Heinrich Lang was born the son of a Württemberg pastor. With ten years he came to the Latin School of Sulz am Neckar and four years later the monastery seminar Schoental. From 1844, he studied Protestant theology in Ferdinand Christian Baur in Tübingen, where he completed his theological studies in the "pen" in 1848. As a student, Heinrich Lang was a member of the North Country connection ( connection Normannia today ). As a popular speaker and energetic supporter of the Republic, he had to leave the Kingdom of Württemberg and fled to Switzerland. After passing the exam in St. Gallen, he was elected as pastor on the pulpit of Gretschins in Wartau on 26 November 1848. He married in Wildhaus on August 3, 1852 Katharina Verena Konstantia Suter. The couple had two sons and three daughters.

Pastor Heinrich Lang was known as a reformer and writer far beyond the borders of his native country as well. In the spring of 1863 he was appointed pastor after miles on Lake Zurich and left on June 1, the Wartau. On March 5, 1871 Pastor Long was elected assistant Heinrich Hirzel St. Peter ( Zurich ), where he gave his inaugural sermon on April 23 and already on May 2, his friend and official colleague had to hold the funeral sermon. He has now Hirzel successor. He has served as editor of the " time voices" and later the "reform, time voices from the Reformed Switzerland " the real leader in the reform movement; him to the side of the writer and pastor Albert Bitzius worked ( son ), son of the great narrator Jeremias Gotthelf. Heinrich Lang died on 13 January 1876 in Zurich.
