Heinrich Schiff

Heinrich Schiff ( born November 18, 1951 in Gmunden ) is an Austrian cellist and conductor.

Life

Heinrich Schiff comes from a musical family. Both parents, Helmut and Helga ship Riemann ( granddaughter of Hugo Riemann ) were composers. At six years old he received his first piano lessons at the age of 10, he joined the School of Music at Roland Linz Rois cello to learn. He then studied with Tobias Kühne and André Navarra in Vienna in Detmold. In 1971 he made ​​his debut in Vienna and London.

Since 1990 he has been principal guest conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. From 2006 to 2009 he directed the music days Mondsee.
