Heinrich Seeling

Heinrich Seeling ( born October 1, 1852 in Zeulenroda, † February 15, 1932 in Berlin) was a German architect.

Life

The son of a master mason Christian Seeling went to his hometown Reuss Zeulenroda to school. After his apprenticeship he attended the Baugewerkschule in wood Minden and the Berlin Academy of Architecture. After visiting for study purposes Vienna and Italy, Seeling returned to Berlin and worked among others as an assistant to the then-known architect William Boeckmann.

Heinrich Seeling developed into a sought-after theater architects. He designed numerous theaters, including the German Opera House in Charlottenburg, the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin, the Princely Court Theater in Gera, the Schauspielhaus in Frankfurt am Main, the Grillo- Theater in Essen, as well as theaters in Breslau, Freiburg, Halle ( Saale ), Kiel, Nürnberg and Rostock. In 1901, Seeling rebuilt the theater in Aachen. He was also the architect of two Protestant churches in Bydgoszcz.

In 1907 he was city building in Charlottenburg. Under Seeling responsibility as a city planner created numerous municipal buildings. He designed in collaboration with Erwin Barth the southern Cascades of Lietz marine parks and the water tower Charlottenburg -Westend. Today's Eosander Schinkel Elementary School was built as a 31 and 32 parish school from 1913 to 1914, senior staff member was there Magistrate Baurat Paul Weingartner. Outside Berlin, was created in collaboration with Richard Ermisch as head of the design department 1912-1914 the sanatorium Waldhaus Charlottenburg ( Kremmen ) summer field.

Heinrich Seeling the title of Reuss and a Prussian building advice were given. In 1896 he was appointed as a member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts and in 1924 he received the honorary title of city elder of Berlin.

Seeling was buried in the cemetery Wilmersdorf. His tomb, as an honorary grave of the city of Berlin, located in the Dept. A1- UWSt. -4
