Heinrich Smidt

Heinrich Smidt ( born December 18, 1798 in Altona; † 3 September 1867 in Berlin) was a German writer.

Life

Heinrich Smidt took ten years at sea and brought it from the sailor helmsman. In 1824 he began studying law and " fine arts " at the universities of Kiel and Berlin. In Berlin, he was editor of the state newspaper and worked for the magazine for literature from abroad.

In 1848, he brought it to a member of the Marine Commission and employees of the Navy Department in the Berlin War Office, for which he most recently worked as an archivist. He was in contact with Ludwig Devrient, Theodor Fontane, inter alia, and was a member of the literary circle tunnel over the river Spree. His experiences at sea and his knowledge of the country and people he utilized in numerous stories, novellas, novels, plays and children's books, which earned him the reputation of a " German Marryat ". In his sea-stories and poems - he has repeatedly used the motif of the Flying Dutchman.
