Heinrich Sontheim

Heinrich Sontheim ( born February 3, 1820 Jebenhausen; † August 2, 1912 in Stuttgart ) was a German singer (tenor ).

Sontheim completed his vocal studies in Stuttgart and has already been successful at the age of 19 years in the role of " Pollione " debut. His first appearance was in Karlsruhe at the court theater.

Later Sontheim was engaged at the Court Opera in Stuttgart, where he was involved in several high-profile world premieres of works by Johann Joseph Abert; Anne of Landeskron (1858 ), King Enzio (1862 ) and Astorga (1866 ).

By the Franco-German war Sontheim undertook repeatedly successful tours through Germany and Austria. After the war he officially ended his engagement there, but was on special occasions sometimes even willing to gigs. His farewell performance was Sontheim 1890 in the role of " Vasco da Gama ".

He retired to private life and died at the age of 92 years on August 2, 1912 in Stuttgart. There he found his final resting place.
