Heinrich Spoerl

Johann Heinrich Christian Spoerl ( born February 8, 1887 in Dusseldorf, † August 25 1955 in Rottach -Egern ) was a German writer.

Life

The son of an engineer and factory owner Johann Heinrich Spoerl, owner of JH Spoerl machinery factory, a factory for printing and paper processing machines in Dusseldorf, attended from 1893 to 1905, the secondary school Fürstenwall in Dusseldorf -Bilk (today Scholl - Gymnasium, but not is more Fürstenwall ).

Spoerl studied from 1905 law in Marburg, Berlin and Munich and worked from 1919 to 1937 as a lawyer and owner of a law firm in his home town of Dusseldorf. During his studies in Marburg, he was a member of the student association Landsmannschaft Nibelungia. In 1937 he moved to Berlin as a freelance writer and 1941 to Rottach - Egern in Upper Bavaria. There he practiced from 1945 to 1948 and again as a lawyer.

He is best known for humorous novels, short stories and plays. Were filmed If we were all angels, the muzzle ( with Ralph Arthur Roberts), The gas man and twice Feuerzangenbowle ( with Heinz Rühmann ). The famous Riihmann version, in which Spoerl together with Riihmann wrote the screenplay and the actors themselves partially directed, was born in 1944. Already in 1934, was released after the Feuerzangenbowle novel the film "What a boor " filmed with Riihmann.

1911 married Emma Pazlik Spoerl, who died after two years of marriage. Since August 19, 1915 Spoerl was married to the concert singer Gertrude Kebben († 1947). Their son was the writer Alexander Spoerl. The grave of Henry Spoerls is located in the new cemetery of Rottach -Egern / Bavaria.
